Athena had been left alone, or at least that was what it felt like. She stood in the cold wind, blinking back tears. She was going to have to tell at some point. And better sooner than later. She took a deep breath. Well . . . here went nothing.
Athena called out for Cato. She had no idea how he might react, but he and Callie were the most powerful wolves in the pack besides she, and Callie was out doing God knew what. She sat back to wait.
Athena’s anxiety ramped up. How would Cato react? Would he be disappointed? Angry? She had just dragged their pack into a war. All because she was inexperienced and stupid.
Wendigo knew what he was doing. ”I have my heart set on someone.” What the h e l l did that mean? Was he in love with another? How could a heartless creature like that love?
Athena began to pace, snarling to herself. ”The stupidity! Athena, you are one dumb girl. What the f u c k were you thinking?” She shook her head. ”Never, never again!” Athena sat down, very exasperated, and with a growl, began to rip up the earth. She blinked the hot tears out of her eyes. Godd a m n her heart. She should have known better.
