Her children were gone.
She could smell some traitorous Hawthorne bitch all over this, she could basically see Wendigo’s doing. HER CHILDREN WERE GONE! SHE WAS THE QUEEN!
She would burn Hawthorne and Tarben to the f u c king ground, she would demolish them. Devastate them all. And after that, she’d find her children and kill both of them. The traitors had gone willingly, she was sure of it, and she’d need to prevent Helene from doing such a thing.
She angrily raced toward Tarben. Hawthorne would be next, Hawthorne would burn. She would kill them all-!
“My queen.” The voice came from the edge of a watery fen. She whipped around, snarling. It was that bitch, Swallowtail. She and her sister, Elia or Elena or something like that, were walking through the watery mud, watching her warily. “You look no more insane than you typically do.”
Athena snarled, her fire and fury rising. “Hawthorne ad Tarben are guilty of stealing my children. My children, in turn, are traitors to their very blood. You should have drowned them a long time ago!”
Swallowtail tipped her head and lashed her tail. “I am not your personal murderer, my queen. I am not in the business of executing innocent teenagers, and I pray to the gods I never will be, for simply wanting to know the man who fathered them. And your current state of mind is a large factor in why they went, Queen Athena; you’d best not forget it, in the remainder of your short life.” Then she tipped back her head, howled a challenge, and Athena’s vision darkened, her fire exploded, nearly engulfing everything. She growled at Swallowtail, “I will rip your heart from your chest,” and dashed to the Proving Grounds ahead of them.
“I’m losing it, all I get’s insanity, insanity!”
