Everything here had been quiet. Nightingale, like all, had fallen to the plague in some ways. Keira had died in her efforts to help Sabertooth on behalf of Amalthea's adopted parents' need for assistance from the war they just served in. Sloane had passed as well from the sickness. And yet, in all that mess, it seemed her brother had vanished. Kalon as well . . . Amalthea had attended a peace treaty on her own, and had been given the news of one of her adopted parents passing and the others near death like state. That alone had torn the poor girl up, but then to hear the news of Irina being welcomed into Amaya with open arms - That was enough to set the Beta off in a fit of rage. Amalthea was too calm, she was uninvolved in it all despite her title to her brother and Hecate knew that well enough. Without Cato, however, she worried Nightingale would fall. Amalthea was not a fighter.
She paced, counting everything up in her head. The treaty was initiated in Summer, and Kalon and Cato had been gone since not too long before that. Too long had passed, it was now winter. Hawthorne, Sabertooth, Tarben, and Drekistone likely had no problem with finding unwed matches to throw into the treaty, yet Nightingale struggled. She sighed, her audit twitching at the call of Amalthea at the throne. She hesitated for a moment, before lopping off into the slim distance between them. She slowed to a stop just a couple feet from Amalthea, her head lowered. "Any sign of them?" The Witch asked, Amalthea shook her head, frowning. "It's like they just disappeared into nothing. Even our tie is gone . . . Hecate, I can't do this without Cato." Hecate's eyes widened in concern at the woman's words, shaking her head. "What are you saying?"
Amalthea let some tears fall down her cheeks. "You were the one who fought Irina and won. I was only brought in as Queen because I was tied to Cato after you named him King. I cannot rule on my own, I have no claim, I'm not a fighter either so if Irina or her children ever tried to come for the throne it'd be turned over so easily. Without Cato, I'm stepping down. You have to rule Nightingale Hecate." The Witch gave a sigh, looking at her paws. She raised her head, looking to meet Amalthea's violet gaze. "I'll have to take a mate that isn't Kalon to produce heirs." She gave another sigh. She dwelled on the idea for a couple moments in silence, debating. A throne was not what she strived for originally in any of this - But she was next in line had something happened to Cato given Amalthea and he had not had children. "It's duty. I'll call for a meeting to announce the change in leadership... Please don't think this means you're unwelcome though, Amalthea. You're still a sister in my eyes." She spoke calmly, her last sentence with a soft smile before she took to the air and perched herself on the stone throne. Her crown fell back into a chilling call for Nightingale, and any nearby who seeked a home.
