Amaya was boring. Life was boring. One thing that wasn’t boring? His hybrid bloodlines of monokeros and voodoo. Or, the fitting name for his unique combination - nightmare. The dark teen felt compelled to use them but found no moment to. His dark, quickly growing larger by the day frame was intimidating with the crocodile skull that encompassed the top of his head, melded into his own dark skin. Its teeth hung over his bone white snout menacingly. His eyes, dark like his father’s, were illuminated only when light hit the evil green edge of his iris. The only other splash of color he had, aside from the gentle white that dipped the tip of his tail, was the coral and sky-blue horn that protruded from his forehead, through the skull. It was certainly the least menacing part of him, but today he would make it so no one undermined him and his abilities. Many would fear Facilier as the nightmare he was.
The prince of Amaya stalked towards the Proving Grounds, where he knew war would commence soon enough. The whispers of spirits had flooded his sister, Salem, his partner in crime. Surely, if he was to create havoc involving the dead, he needed someone who could communicate with them. Facilier had convinced Salem rather easily, having known she was bored as well in Amaya. How Chiodos, the other nightmare of their royal family, ended up following them was a mystery. The secondary goal from this trip was simpler than the primary – they had to survive and stay out of the path from the Sabertooth and Tarben heathens fighting it out over a girl of all things. Facilier gagged at the thought – he never had a desire for love or children or whatnot. Supposedly, the lass rescued from Tarben by a Sabertooth prince was pregnant with both males’ children, but rather than respecting the female’s choice, the males were possessive and monogamous. He rolled his eyes at the imbeciles of Tarben as they arrived to the field, beckoning the nearby pack of Sabertooth down the cliffside towards the proving grounds.
Facilier listened and watched with disinterest as the two males taunted each other, more done by the part of Beartooth rather than that of Achilles. However, when the first soul died, his magic energy flared up. His eyes, determined, looked to Salem, silently commanding her to begin phase one of the reckoning – gather the spirits around. His sister began to mutter phrases, and Facilier hoped the spirits would approach. Now the next part, which more depended on luck – get a dying wolf to flee to the shrubbery the three teenage siblings hid behind. His dark eyes stayed locked onto the field, watching for any presences to move closer. The nightmare would refrain from making himself known on the battlefield, as per the second goal – don’t be noticed, and don’t die. He had heard whispers of someone from Sabertooth passing away during the last war because they wandered too closely. Again, pity. That mountainside pack would need their theta, not only for after the war, but also after Facilier’s mission was complete. Though, if executed properly, thetas would barely be able to put a dent in the recovery.
His eyes caught onto a sky pelted, winged lass falling down their way. It appeared her wing was broken, causing her flight to be halted. A hard crash to the ground would likely shatter the ribcages and puncture the lungs. Facilier backpedaled when he realized her trajectory was right behind the bushes, which was perfect. Still hidden and hitting hard ground covered only with a thin layer of sediment. He felt no pity at the thud and cracks of bones that followed. A groan came from the lass, to which the nightmare teen stepped forward. ”That looks like it hurt.” Facilier scoffed mockingly, tilting his head upwards. His audits perked as the gasps coming from the lass proved his prior hypothesis true – her ribs broke and punctured her lungs. He inched closer, lowering into a stalk. He spoke quietly to Salem as he felt the energy begin to slowly bubble around him. ”How many friends on the other side have I got? And do they know this skyborne’s name?” The answer was surprising – Khione, one of the princesses of Sabertooth, who was accompanied by the spirits of her siblings and others. An evil smirk began to slide its way onto his bone white maw as the prince of Amaya turned his attention back to his vessel. ”Well, Khione…” Facilier began, dipping his skull covered head down to meet her eyes, the life fading from them slowly. His next words were likely venom to her ears with how dark and sinister their tone was. ”Let me…quicken this reunion for you.”
With his head already tipped down and her jugular exposed, it was easy to stab the vital point with the coral and sky blue horn atop his head, quickly becoming coated with crimson blood. Unplanned, Chiodos also came over and did the same, albeit not in as vital of a spot as Facilier had hit. Nonetheless, the dark magic surged between the brothers as the soul left Khione’s body. Facilier’s dark eyes noticed Khione’s body begin to decay – rapidly. It was working, he needed to speak the curse he had recited several times, now. ”Curse these lands and those within, prone and wounded let infection begin.” As the last word left his maw, Facilier pulled his horn out of what was left of Khione’s body, now indistinguishable from other corpses that laid near. As he tried to pull himself upright, he collapsed because of the energy that was sapped from him. Salem and Chiodos would have to carry him home, or at least far enough away from the Proving Grounds until he awoke.

Hi guys! Admin Rosie here! I so badly wanted to post this yesterday (my birthday) but never got around to it, but boyyyyy am I excited >
If you could not deduce from the lovely story above – a plague will begin to surge across Starfall. Symptoms may be able to be lessened by rigorous treatment from a theta, but it will be quickly discovered that there is no medicinal cure for infection. Some wolves may be able to fight the infection longer, and others’ lives may be taken within the short span of a day. Below I will explain some of the guidelines regarding this plague, including but not limited to the presentation (symptoms), infection rate and methods, logistics of the curse, and how to get rid of the plague (mostly).
Presentation:
The symptoms of infection are broad and can either be deadly or manageable. You as a player for the most part get to pick and choose from the list below which your infected characters present, except for the symptoms marked with an [M], as they are required for plot reasons (which will be elaborated on later). Treatable symptoms are marked with a [T] – the effects of these symptoms can be lessened with aggressive theta attention. Most thetas will only be able to manage a max of three plague patients, but also put themselves at risk of infection.
Symptoms of infection include:
• Overall weakness
• Fatigue
• Loss of appetite [T]
• Inability to keep food down [T]
• Fever & chills [T]
• Rotting of flesh at wound/injury sites (Only for new or severe wounds – Tarben and Sabertooth will be most likely to express this)
• Memory loss [M]
• Brain fog [M]
• Intermittent loss of control of the body [M]
Infection Rate and Methods: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.
First and foremost, I will not explicitly force you to say that your wolf is infected based on my roll. In most cases, infection will not be deadly. On the same token, any wolves that are not infected by the means of my rolling CAN be if you wish (such as needing a reason to kill off a character). However, please let me know by responding to this thread as to which wolves (and their pack affiliation) you will be killing off via infection. It will affect the infection rates within packs. It should also be noted – wolves that stay inside of Amaya are immune to infection. If for any reason, a wolf with Amaya membership leaves the borders, they are put at risk for infection, except for Facilier, Chiodos, and Salem. If infected, they will not spread the infection to others of Amaya.
THE GENERAL GUIDELINE IS AS FOLLOWS:
Rate of infection:
• Outside of pack lands: 10%
• Inside of a pack with up to history three wolves infected: 20%
• Inside of a pack with up to a history of six wolves infected: 25%
• Inside of a pack with up to a history of nine wolves infected: 35%
• Inside of a pack with 10+ more histories of infection: 50%
• Those infection rates also apply when a wolf visits another pack, regardless of whether the traveler is sick or not. For example: A wolf from a pack that has 10+ cases of infection will have a 50% chance of infecting another wolf from a different pack.
• Sabertooth and Tarben are starting with an infection rate of 25% because of their vicinity to the origin of the curse.
• Rate of death is a stable 15%. Again, you may overturn this ruling.
Logistics of the Curse:
The reason why memory loss, brain fog, and intermittent loss of control of the body are mandatory is because Facilier will occasionally command those infected to come to him – it is still up to you whether you abide by that, but it would take some distracting of the wolf by others to prevent them from reporting to the call. The wolves called will have no memory of making this trip, any conversations had, or any orders given. Again, wolves do not have to do the orders, but if they do, they almost act within a trance and on an urge/whim for no apparent reason. I intend to post Facilier for a calling once roughly every two weeks (real time) and will make a shoutout in the discord when I have done so. The last call will happen in late August – when the curse can be broken.
Ridding Starfall of the Plague:
The plague will stop spreading when Facilier is killed. At the last calling, the power he has on everyone has weakened, and some wolves finally make the connection that he is the reason for the curse. Reasonably, they can gang up and kill him, which will heal those that were infected…for the most part. >
Those infected that are not tribrids already will gain one of two variants of a new bloodline, the Poison Elemental.
Variant one, Gaseous, is for those wolves that did not express the rotting of flesh when infected. Like their mist wolf cousins, they can disperse poison around them, and are immune to the toxins themselves. Minor exposure to this may cause stomach and lung irritation for a few days, like food poisoning or an allergy flare up. Prolonged exposure to this could lead to a decrease in lung function (run out of breath easier, coughing fits) or in extreme cases, death.
Variant two, Decayed, is for the infected wolves that had rotting wounds. They do not have the ability to release poison at will, rather, if they are injured themselves, toxins will seep from their body to affect the attacker, leaving purple-hued blood on the “weapon”. If someone leaves a scratch wound, their body will become irritated for a few days (like poison ivy). If someone were to bite a decayed, the effects vary depending on how long the bite was held for and if blood was swallowed. If a short bite, jaw strength is decreased for a few days, while for a longer bite and swallowing of blood could lead to chronic bowel issues, decreased immune system, or death (in extreme cases).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And that’s it! Please please please (!!!) reply below with what wolves of yours will be killed off from the plague (and their pack affiliation!) so that I can figure out starting infection rates among the packs before I roll for all the characters
