The young queen was a couple days overdue, she estimated; she was carrying Aegir’s children. She was extremely excited and nervous to be a mother, finally. This pregnant state suited Marella, bathing her in an additional glow. She already flickered blue all the time, but though she’d never believed in the “pregnancy glow”, she had a godsdamned pregnancy glow. Or at least something that seemed like one anyway. She couldn’t say she hated it, she was just a bit salty at being proven wrong. She was a stubborn woman, a survivor and sailor to the core, so she was exceptionally annoyed that she was, in fact, wrong about there being any such thing as a pregnancy glow.
She was drifting off to sleep when she realized the pains in her stomach were no ordinary one-of-the-pups-is-kicking-me-please-stop pains that by this point were normal. She was in labor, and part of Marella was relieved because honestly? She was overdue, and even though the season was turning to fall - it could sometimes still be miserably hot to carry around the four or five pups that she had been tasked with growing. She howled for her mate and king - it was time.
fade out, fade in
Marella curled a limb around the firstborn girl. Her firstborn was a boy, a handsome pup who in bloodlines was seemingly a mix of Marella’s Lamprydae and Aegir’s Voodoo. The firstborn girl, second born, was just like Aegir in that she was an Aquatis; her eyes were mostly brown like Marella’s but she was like Aegir in all else. The other two also looked just like Aegir; only the first boy took after Marella in appearance. The Queen of Ranjord nudged the youngest pup - the second girl. She had eyes that were mostly Aegir’s icy, striking blue. “I’m naming this one Aegra, and you can’t convince me otherwise,” she said with a tired smirk.
OOC: this is a past scene; as this is wayyyy overdue.
“I’ll pull you in like the waves of the sea . . .”
