The young wolf walked slowly through the tall grass. He was just barely too short to see through it, and it brushed over his back and sides, scratching softly along his tawny pelt. He was walking in front of Leia, and she was close behind him, following the trail he broke for her. Fallen glanced back quickly, regarding her with soft orange-yellow eyes. She was so tired, he knew, and he remembered his mother's last words:
"Fallen, son, come to me. Yes, there you are lad, I don't think I will make it much longer. My boy, don't you look like that- don't look like that! It will be alright, I know. You will be just fine, you are strong. Take care of your sister for me- she's not as strong as you are. And don't forget how much I love you."
He had to be the strong one. He had to take care of Leia, weak and small as she was. Setting his eyes forward, he tried to keep on walking bravely, hoping he wasn't going in circles through tall grass he couldn't see over. "What if I'm not really that brave?" He thought.
Suddenly he stopped as he heard a voice. It sounded friendly and feminine, and for a moment he let himself think it was his mum's before shaking his head. "Hello?" He called as he moved towards it, 'Come on, Leia. Let's see who it is." A female wolf whose head was adorned with horns came into view.
Leia
The pup walked with her head down beside her brother. She was panting hard and her dark blue eyes were glazed over. The poor girl was so tired and so lonesome for her mother. She knew Fallen was trying to take care of her, but he didn't know what he was doing, and he could barely take care of himself. She looked at the flowers scattered in the grass and sighed, remembering how much her mum had loved them.
She heard Fallen talking to someone and remembered how hungry and thirsty she was. Hopefully they knew where some water was.
