1. How can the OSAA possibly determine if teams are entering in forfeits? Every kid that is entered in a trackwrestling district tournament has been officially weight assessed. Coaches aren’t putting “random” names in brackets and then having them be forfeits.
2. Is the OSAA using numbers from district tournaments or from weight assessments from the beginning of the year?
3. If you’re a competitive team, why would you enter a kid in who you absolutely know will not wrestle at the district tournament? Forfeits automatically give pin and advancement points to opposing teams...
4. Most districts, per SOPs, require wrestlers to compete in a certain number of district competitions before being entered into the district tournament.
If anyone could address these with actual OSAA policy or data, rather than speculation, that would be helpful.
