BSU should have studied the model of U of O - losing 1.3 million per season in order to compete as opposed to wrestling which cost the university about 350k after revenues. Unfortunately, baseball was Kustra's pet project - his legacy - and he was not going to let it stop him....however the voters did, not wanting to pay for a new stadium for BSU when they were already paying for Hawks stadium.
There is a "Save BSU wrestling" facebook page that raised a lot of support and money to save the program. Hopefully it gets going again with this announcement - however in the current college financial climate, they aren't going to be adding a sport back. Right now they are focused on not having to shut down. Lots a of lay offs and Boise has a climbing COVID rate that may kids off campus again to start the year if things don't flatten out soon.
