Almost zero actual talk about wrestling on here which is too bad. Wrestlers are finding ways to make it happen under the shitty circumstances. Granted there are not tournaments or school wrestling in Oregon that everyone can agree sucks, we should be focusing on the positive. We have to be positive or this shit is going to eat us up. Good for those Coaches, families and wrestlers willing to figure it out. How about some ideas on here about how Coaches, families and wrestlers are staying engaged. Our youth need to stay physically engaged for more than just wrestling.
There are clubs practicing, contact them...get on the mat. Not for you, then don't.
There are families traveling & carpooling...ask around, make a phone call, have kids message other kids. Not for you, then don't.
There are kids practicing in garages, barns and fields. Join them. Not for you, then don't.
Some Coaches are traveling and some are not. Different circumstances, different levels of liability. Understandable, each their own.
Hopefully Coaches are reaching out to their wrestlers in some form or fashion pushing them to do something if they can't organize in person.
As parents we need to make sure to push them out the door. Maybe even jog with them....imagine that, doing some kind of exercise with them. Watch some wrestling videos. Take them for a hike, bike ride. None of which cost much if nothing.
In the wrestling community someone knows someone doing something during these times. Definitely challenging but not impossible to do something.
