Our neighbors have a kitty they got as a kitten. It was cute, loved and kept in. As it got older they did let it out. Now, they have a dog and a baby, the kitty is basically ignored and always outdoors. It has learned it can come to our house for food. Today it was looking in our window, I took food out and he gobbled it up, he was hungry. If you don't intend to always care for a pet you should not get one.
