Re: You take care of yourself, practice safety and then get hit by a Bus in the prime of your life...
I don't completely disagree, but do have a different way of looking at it all. It's okay to take a minute to reflect, feel sad for the losses and support the families of the loved ones who have lost their lives, no matter the circumstances. The DUI driver had a choice to drink and drive or drink and let someone else drive before he got in his car to go drink. He made a horrifically bad choice...no mistake. I'm sure he'll be charged with vehicular homicide along with other charges. The two teens playing chicken and being daredevils with their vehicles were typical teens who, like most teens, think they are invincible. There are a couple of things I did as a teen that could have potentially ended my life as well. I know how foolish those actions were now. At the time, I didn't give them a second thought. How can I possibly judge these teens' behavior without being completely hypocritical? Neither of them was drinking or drugging - just being typical teens hanging out on a Sat. night. You are right - life should be enjoyed but there are no guarantees that your "enjoyment" will not, like you indicate, end in tragedy, either. Excellent points there.
