The farm broadcasting lobby is also very strong here. Big issue in rural America, where AM signals can get out much further than FM. And of course HD Radio (America's version of DAB) has largely hit the buffers, amid a lack of public awareness of the technology and a raft of truly woeful programming on the sub-channels.

I can hear from the SDRs, that AM is still widely used in the USA.
I know they have a problem with EV's that kick up a lot of hash on MW, but I expect that can be overcome.
We are being dictated to in the UK, regarding Radio.
In the USA, it looks increasingly likely that AM Radio will secure an extended lease of life.
