because they want to live a better life. I also believe that love and forgiveness is a good thing in that quest for a better life. Nothing mysterious or supernatural about that. I’m sure there are plenty of non-religious people who have changed their lives for the better
I think the mistake that people make is in thinking that only a perfect god can forgive them or change their life. It may even hinder them and others from being able to ask for and/or give and receive love and forgiveness from those they may have wronged. Perhaps they are fearful that they won’t get it from mere humans, or that humans don’t deserve to be treated as such because they are not perfect?
