You are, as usual, exactly correct.
If Ukraine feels that it can only maintain the current stalemate and can never actually expel Russian forces from its territory, especially if military aid is cut off, then it will be FORCED to negotiate a settlement, even one that concedes a strip of Ukrainian territory to the Russians. And, of course, the Russians can't possibly demand MORE Ukrainian territory than they already control. That should be the negotiated settlement - end the war, with the conquered areas of Ukraine annexed by Russia. Otherwise they'll have a stalemate, World War I type war that will go on endlessly. And that is something that we should NOT be funding.
