So, if you make 100K a year, you think a bank should loan you 400K for a car?
That is insane. There is no way anyone should be spending 4 years worth of income on a car. Considering that most student loans are backed either initially or later by the TAXPAYERS, I say that those of us TRULY paying have some equity in the decision. Ban government backing of student loans and then it CAN be reasonably left totally up to the borrower and the lender. But when I am the underwriter, I don't want to have to back bad loans.
