Appears the wolves attached the bison from behind as they do and ripped its tail off causing it to bleed significantly. The bison took refuge from the wolves in the river as in the video. It appears it died overnight and floated downstream and stopped or was drug to a shallower spot in the river where the wolves and other scavengers ate on the carcass.
