My youngest daughter, a Freshman, plays at a mid-major. After their last game, she was pissed when she left the field and over dinner let us know that the Coaches let them know that a parent was sending anonymous letters to the AD saying they were verbally abusive. To her opinion, they are far from being anything close to abusive. Instead, she's very complimentary of the coaching. Their starting lineup is heavily freshman, and kids that started for a couple of years are now sitting, and she has a pretty good idea who she thinks it is.
I guess my point is that it's not the kids we have to worry about as much as the parents. Accountability starts at the top, and there are literally adults who are trying to cost grown adults their livelihood over playing time. I doubt if anything will happen to these coaches, but it's still an imposition on their time and takes away from a team effort.
