Let's say that we decide to cut that in half - $443 billion.
And let's say that we spent ALL of the other half - $443 billion - to pay for healthcare for everyone.
And we added to that what we could squeeze out of the top 1% by increasing the top tier tax rate - around $200 billion.
So we'd have an extra $643 billion or so per year to pay for healthcare for everyone.
But we would LOSE what everyone is ALREADY paying towards healthcare.
The US spends about 5 TRILLION on healthcare every year - all sources of funding.
Yet people say "Tax the rich and cut the military and give everyone free healthcare"?
What am I missing?
[now let the dismissive and unresponsive name-calling begin]
