The government should play an important, minimal regulatory function in regards to human safety. We have the right to defend ourselves from harmful things and we can and should delegate that limited authority to the government to assure the safety of food and medicine.
And I don’t worry too much about China. They can’t even feed, cloth, and shelter their billion citizens. I don’t see them as a threat so much as I see them as an opportunity for American business and jobs. Yes, they have a dangerous military, but you can only suppress economic and other freedoms for so long before the human spirit rises up, creating overwhelming pressure on the ruling elite. China’s days as an authoritarian power are numbered.
