I suppose the government can dictate that all shoes are to be made in the US. Or they can levy a tax (tariff) on shoes imported from China, making them more expensive for consumers. But how do you think those $30 per hour US shoemaking jobs will last before Nike moves operations to India or Mexico or Bangladeshi? Government interference just caused shoes to be more expensive and a loss of US jobs.
I prefer giving the American consumer the most freedom possible in making their decisions. Government interference in the market doesn’t serve US consumers and US companies in the long run.
As for medicine, I already covered that. The government should make sure our medicine is safe. That’s it. A lot of people go to Mexico to have dental work done because it is cheaper. That is called freedom. And I am here for it.
