But that seizure had nothing to do with any goal of bringing those businesses under the control/ownership of the people, distributing their output/capital to the people, etc. It was intended primarily to disenfranchise Jews, a practice in Europe that greatly predates Marx. It's a totalitarian practice, unquestionably, but that's nothing unique to socialism.
