If a map had not been gerrymandered, would all of the boundaries be natural terrain features?

Rivers? Creeks? Mountain ranges?

Would every District simply have the same population, regardless of race?

Isn't that the way it USED to be done, but then minorities claimed that they had been made minorities in every District and so had zero representation, so the Districts were redrawn to ensure minority-majority Districts?

This is WAY more complicated than just being able to say that "California doesn't gerrymander".
