I don’t want to blindly adopt somebody else’s system. I have spend significant time in Europe and have even visited friends in hospitals. They complain about wait times and many times don't have the specialty care when needed and come to the US for treatment.

Oh yes, it is “paid for” but most complain about how much is deducted from their paycheck to fund what is seen as an overburdened, inefficient system.
