Instead of excusing and tolerating abuse by Islam, we should stop giving so many tax breaks to the rich and use that money to help the poor.

Except that doesn’t work. It never has worked.

You cannot help people permanently by giving them what they can and should earn for themselves. If someone utilized your services and refused to pay on the grounds that they are “poor”, you would report it. If someone took your wallet and said they were entitled to it because they were “poor”, you would call it theft. But if politicians take money from one person who earned it and give it to someone who didn’t, they get re-elected. It doesn’t cease to become theft, just because government does it.

There are people in need of help. Charity is one of the nobler human motivations. The act of reaching into one's own pockets to help a fellow man in need is praiseworthy and laudable. Reaching into someone else's pocket is despicable and worthy of condemnation.

Government should not be in the business of theft. It should be creating conditions whereby people are free to create value for others in free markets devoid of government interference.

I want to help the WORKING poor, not the lazy poor.

Some people have full time jobs and have trouble paying for basics like rent and groceries.

The extension of a series of tax breaks approved by the Republican-led Congress last year as part of President Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill" will mainly benefit high-net-worth and high-income people.

Sounds like you want to “help” as long as someone else pays for it.

I help in two ways:

-I support local charities with my time and money.

-I advocate for policies that provide educational and economic opportunity. History proves that free market capitalism is by far the most effective system for lifting people out of poverty.

Walter Williams, a noted economist has excellent advice on how to avoid poverty:

“ Avoiding long-term poverty is not rocket science. First, graduate from high school. Second, get married before you have children, and stay married. Third, work at any kind of job, even one that starts out paying the minimum wage. And, finally, avoid engaging in criminal behavior. If you graduate from high school today with a B or C average, in most places in our country there’s a low-cost or financially assisted post-high-school education program available to increase your skills. long-term poverty is not rocket science. First, graduate from high school. Second, get married before you have children, and stay married. Third, work at any kind of job, even one that starts out paying the minimum wage. And, finally, avoid engaging in criminal behavior. But did you know that Mary was likely 12-14 years of age (non-canonical Gospel of James) when she was betrothed to Joseph, and girls in that era were betrothed at those young ages.

There are also instances of young children taking on adult roles: “Joash was seven years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem.
