The fact of the matter is poverty is bad in America

Posted by Lucky on July 6, 2026, 8:49 pm, in reply to "Poverty in USA by State"

Some people blame the individual but in reality poverty is part of our culture.

How is creating a dependency on handouts going to help?

Wealth is created through productivity and providing valuable goods and services, not through income redistribution.

Economic freedom leads to opportunity. Opportunity is the key pathway out of poverty. Keeping people comfortably poor leads to chronic poverty.

It's amazing how people have been brainwashed and not able to grasp the total picture because of their partisanship and lack of intellect.

Has the Republicans fetish of giving tax cuts to corporations and the wealthy and slashing social programs fixed the issue?

Every Republican administration going back to at least Reagan has added to the national Deficit.

Partisanship, lack of intellect, and brainwashing are certainly problems.

Johnson’s Great Society was designed to end poverty. By creating dependency on government, it failed. People lacking intellect conveniently forget that fact.

Socialism has failed consistently throughout history. Yet the Democrats embrace socialism in the US because partisanship demands they buy votes with free stuff using the earnings of other people. They put party above the nation. Too often Republicans do the same thing.

Mamdani (D-NY) lectures us from George Washington’s desk (ironically sitting on the wrong side) attempting to make tyranny sound like empathy. He attempts to brainwash the gullible into thinking collectivism is community, when in truth it is the erasure of the individual... the very soul of American liberty.

As an independent, I reject partisanship, brainwashing, and a lack of intellect. I embrace truth, logic, and reason.

Democrats embrace socialism ???

All Democrats ??? Republicans embrace Fascism.

Has the Republicans fetish of giving tax cuts to corporations and the wealthy and slashing social programs fixed the issue?

Something Republicans and Independents refuse to answer.

Your drivel is a bunch of old and stale cliches. An Independent for Trump.

Here is a list of Democrats who embrace socialism, literally.

Posted by Arwen on July 7, 2026, 7:48 am, in reply to "Democrats embrace socialism ???"

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Mamdani, Darializa Avila Chevalier, Melat Kiros, Bernie Sanders, Katie Wilson, Claire Valdez, Rashida Tlaib.

I could go on, if you still think Democrats don’t embrace socialism.

I do support Republican efforts to expose and reduce fraud in government. You aren’t arguing that the fraud uncovered in Minnesota is isolated or contributes to “fixing the issue”, are you?

The top 1% of earners pay approximately 40.4% of all federal individual income taxes, while the top 10% pay about 72%. In contrast, the bottom 50% of taxpayers pay around 3% of federal income taxes.

Oh, sure you can confiscate more of the wealth creators’ earnings, but they will just move to another state, just like New Jersey businesses (and jobs) are heading to Texas as we speak. How does that benefit local economies in New Jersey?

Where in your post did you refer to an incomplete list

Posted by Gustavo on July 7, 2026, 11:44 am, in reply to "Here is a list of Democrats who embrace socialism, literally."

No one can hold a conversation with you because you are a know-it-all trying to push your drivel onto more intelligent people than yourself.

An ignorant narcissist.

Explained below.

But here is the real reason you can’t engage in a civil discussion with me:

You think you are superior by virtue of being a male. You have lived your life with a bias against women. You are intimidated by women like me who out-think you with superior wit, logic, and reasoning. Part of your behavior can be explained by the era you grew up in where women were expected to cook, clean, and take care of their husband. Well, in case you haven’t figured it out, that is not me. I succeeded in a man’s world despite the arrogance of misogynistic men like you.

Civil discussion is great. Cross the line and risk further embarrassment.

TIA

So you are saying

Posted by Gustavo on July 7, 2026, 8:16 am, in reply to "Here is a list of Democrats who embrace socialism, literally."

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Mamdani, Darializa Avila Chevalier, Melat Kiros, Bernie Sanders, Katie Wilson, Claire Valdez, Rashida Tlaib Is the complete list of Democrats serving the Democratic Party ???

In case you don’t realize it you are a pathological liar just trying to get your own way in a discussion. You are critically anti-Democrat and will lie to always confirm your imagination that you are always correct.

Democratic Socialism is NOT pure socialism

Posted by Trish on July 7, 2026, 11:11 am, in reply to "So you are saying"

people toss that word around without knowing what it means... just like accusations of communism. It's all "hot buttons"

Democratic Socialism is what Hitler called his movement.

Posted by Arwen on July 7, 2026, 11:25 am, in reply to "Democratic Socialism is NOT pure socialism"

And, no, I am not suggesting socialists who identify as Democrats are Nazis. Far from it.

But I do believe there is not much difference between socialism and communism, except in the means of establishing it. Communism proposes to enslave people by force; socialism by vote. They both clash with our founding principles. But in reality the difference can be described as the similar nuance between murder and suicide.

No, I literally said it was an incomplete list. RIF.

Posted by Arwen on July 7, 2026, 8:36 am, in reply to "So you are saying"

Oh, you are now calling me a pathological liar.

Well, that is rich.

Point out a specific lie. I mean, if you have moved into the name calling point of the discussion, like you usually do, forget about it. You have lost the argument and it would be a waste of time.

But if you want to continue with a civil discussion, then point out the lie if you think one exists.

Point out in your post where you claim it’s an incomplete list

Posted by Gustavo on July 7, 2026, 11:55 am, in reply to "No, I literally said it was an incomplete list. RIF."

“I could go on…”

Posted by Arwen on July 7, 2026, 12:04 pm, in reply to "Point out in your post where you claim it’s an incomplete list"

Meaning (for those who have issues with English) that the list can be expanded but is sufficient to support the main point that Democrats embrace socialism.
