Socialism is rooted in disillusionment and resentment.

If you look at the demographic that supports the rise of socialism in the Democrat party it is people with a college degree and a substantial amount of student debt. The degree is in a discipline that is practically useless in terms of creating value for others which is the foundation of a thriving free market economy.

So it is people who made a poor decision, earn between $30-60 K per year, and now want to blame others (and capitalism) for their lack of judgement.

Economic freedom and political freedom are correlated largely because economic freedom decreases the dependence of individuals on government or other potential forces in society that would restrict liberty or attempt to centralize power.

These supporters of socialism would trade freedom for a small degree of security caused by their poor decisions.

You still can’t define socialism in a modern context. You are hung up on the word “socialism”.

Also, I am a debt free millionaire with a household income of over 500K. I support it 100%.

Seriously? You don’t know the definition of socialism? That explains a lot.

Socialism is an economic and political system based on public ownership of the means of production. All production and distribution decisions are made by a central planner or government body.

In practice, industries and resources are owned by the government. The value employees and businesses create are confiscated and distributed to those who need it rather than those who create it. Economic freedom is non-existent as decisions are made by the elite rather than determined by millions of free and voluntary citizens acting as a market.

Wrong definition. I am not surprised.

You are describing China, Russia, and other socialist and communist states. Modern democratic socialism is what they have in Germany, Denmark, and Sweden.

They have the CORRECT balance between capitalism and social safety nets for citizens.

Laws should always favor consumers over businesses, employees over employers, and people over corporations. Germany should be the world’s example on how to do this correctly.

Germany, Denmark, and Sweden have highly taxed, capitalist economies. Whereas in the US, the top 50% of wage earners, pay 97% of the taxes, in the countries you mentioned 50-60% of all wage earner’s income goes to fund their inefficient, wasteful social systems. I know many people who live in these countries and the national pastime is creating plans for avoiding the excessive taxation mandated by the governments.

Laws should favor economic freedom, incentives for creating value for others, and reducing dependence on government.

Now you know.
