Ontario Health shows 355 patients died while waiting for cardiac surgery

Heart trouble is the one thing everyone is told never to ignore. Yet many Canadians with cardiac conditions are waiting in a queue.
Data from Ontario Health shows 355 patients died while waiting for cardiac surgery or a cardiac procedure during the fiscal year 2024-25. It is one of the most severe findings in our latest waiting list research, which counted at least 23,746 deaths on waitlists across the country last year.
Since 2018, we have documented more than 100,000 cases of Canadians dying before they got the care they were promised.
These are people who paid into the system their whole lives. They deserved to be seen in time.

The US has problems too

In the last five years, 34 million Americans watched as someone they knew died after they couldn't afford medical treatment

Around 70,000 people die every year in the USA due to lack of access to healthcare. 500,000 or more have to file for bankruptcy every year

EXACTLY we need Medicare for ALL persons in USA legally.

He lied to get Obamacare passed on a partisan basis.

He promised premiums would go down by $2,500 yet premiums increased by about 60% in the first four years.

He promised, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it,” yet more than 9 million lost their preferred plan during the first open enrollment. (That was deemed the Lie of the Year for 2013.)

Obamacare did nothing to reduce bankruptcies or reduce mortality rates.

For many it became a life line

I can state for a fact that neither my husband or myself would be alive today without it.

I would like to point out that the ACA did a lot of good things.

1. insurance companies could no longer deny coverage or charge higher premiums to people with pre-existing medical conditions

2. The ACA placed strict caps on the maximum amount a consumer would have to pay out-of-pocket in a year for medical care

3. ACA capped the "age band" ratio at 3-to-1

4. Children can remain on their parents' health insurance plans until their 26th birthday.

All of which contributed to higher premiums and reduced coverage.

Not to mention longer waits, losing your doctor, and less options.

I am glad you are alive.

Not everyone survived the system.
