That is over 25% of our deficit.
These are facts that The Trumpsters don’t want to address .
They will do their best to spin the fact

Maybe it was a bad to lower taxes when we were in debt.

We clearly have a spending problem, not a taxation problem.

The root cause is politicians’ addiction to buying votes with promises of free stuff……paid for with borrowed money.

The Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993 raised taxes on rich people and corporations.

Then in about 1997 - 2000 our country lowered our Debt as Percent of Gross Domestic Product

And while you are trying to do that consider this….

The top 1% of earners in the US pay 40% of the taxes.

The bottom 50% of earners pay about 3% of the taxes.

So, while you are attempting to prove that “Republicans want to take away Medicare and do away with Social Security” let us know how much more you want “rich” people to pay.

Keep in mind that we are $40 trillion in debt and if you confiscated all the billionaire’s assets and applied it to the debt, you would still have $33 trillion to go. Oh, and you just destroyed the US and probably global economy.

I am sure you and lucky really believe that Republicans want to “take Medicare and do away with SS” even the left wing nutjob who wrote the opinion piece was not able to provide a single fact to support the assertion.

You are your own easiest dupes, because what you wish to be true, you assume to be true.

Kind of you to attempt to help your progressive buddy out, but until you provide facts in support of your opinion, your credibility will continue to suffer.
