You can't argue that Nappy wasn't a smart guy on the field; his problem was that he started believing his own smoke (as did his own people and many of his adversaries). The disaster in Russia kinda opened the kimono, a huge gaffe (as made by others). Some of the battles in Spain showed his weaknesses early on, but I think only Wellesley connected the dots. All IMHO, of course.
