Over here we have what is ludicrously labelled "organic" produce.
Supposedly grown the old fashioned way and sold at a sky high price. When Mr millennial raves about this to me I love the look of crestfallen anguish on his visage when I inform him that the thing he regards as special, I and folk of my ilk regard it as the normal we grew up with and all at a much cheaper price relatively speaking.
I do my meat shopping at a local butcher and as a result get bacon that's not injected full of bloody nitrates and shrinks in the pan as well as giving off a horrible white goo, beef that's well trimmed and finely marbled plus lamb shoulder that you could die for.
The butcher in question is surrounded on three sides by local supermarkets yet still manages to make a good living such is the quality of his product.
Another old fashioned personal touch he has is that when he takes a fortnights holiday he vacuum packs me two weeks worth of meat and tells me "pay me when you've got it Fred." Somehow I cannot imagine Tesco offering the same courtesy. (laughs)
Local greengrocer for veg and all is well in Fred's world.
