That great bastion of British pop/rock the Marshall amplifier is now made in the land of chicken chop suey, whilst wrapping the Union flag around itself and screaming how British it is, same for Vox for a short while and also guitars in general.
The problem is Sarge that whilst a great deal of tat comes from said source I have to admit to getting some bloody great bargains delivered post free faster and at a better price than I can get things from down the road.
For example I bought a couple of class D 20 watt stereo amplifier boards which only required a suitable box to put them in and a volume knob for the front.
Cost? £2.68 EACH!
Whilst they won't give Panasonic any sleepless nights quality wise, they are more than good enough for casual listening. also purchased an MP3 player which can play three different types of audio file, has the above 20 watt stereo amp inbuilt, comes with remote control and battery, has soft start so you don't blow the speakers on power up, remembers the last track played on shut down, software EQ controls etc all for the princely post free sum of £6.00!!
Another thing I purchased is an EPROM eraser.
Basically an ultra violet light source which wipes the data from the chip so as to be ready for re-programming.
UK cost? Nothing under £200.00 China? £17.00!
It does job nicely too.
So yes by all means import stuff from China just be more honest and don't wrap Old Glory or the Union flag around it.
