First a bit of explanation.
A common cause of sciatica is ruptured discs usually in the lumber region pressing on the nerve.
Not applicable in my case as a couple of spinal surgeries removed said discs and at the same time widened the apertures in the side of the spinal column where the never pass through so the vertebrae never touch the nerve.
My doc' said my condition is what they colloquially refer to as "wallet in back pocket syndrome."
Apparently they find a large number of say office workers who spend a lot of time seated with say a wallet in the back pocket causes the buttock muscle to become inflamed which in turn irritates the sciatic nerve which passes through said muscle so reduce the inflammation and all should be well.
Now here's the kicker.
To reduce the inflammation the two common drugs of choice over here are either diclofenac or naproxen, but one of the worrying side effects is
"MAY CAUSE CARDIAC ARREST!!"
The upshot being I chose naproxen as in the past diclofenac caused me to suffer severe heart palpitations, and the naproxen has done the job.
I just have a bit of a tingle down the right leg but gradually fading so hopefully all's well as they say.
As I posted earlier I was eating tramadol like sweets to no effect something I warned Mike about and feel slightly ashamed I didn't follow my own doctrine but desperate times and all that.
Onward and upward men!
