Well meant Mike, no doubt, but But I prefer true intelligent satire of the Swiftian kind and at a pinch Beyond the fringe.

Modern satire or what passes for it just seems to rely on personal insult re weight, looks, personality flaws etc in a sledgehammer assault on the person in question rather than the intelligently crafted barbs of the true satirist.

Three Herberts dressed as the Andrews sisters making personal comments about their victim/s is hardly high comedy and certainly not satirical, rather it's just a bunch of cheap shot one liners set to music hoping to garner an equally cheap laugh with no understanding of what true satire can be.

Just my opinion and I certainly hold no torch for Trump.


The modern day so called comedians who called the older ones cruel cannot see that their own acts are at times equally cruel in nature.

One so-called modern comedienne's opening gambit I recall was " Hey guys the way to a mans heart is not through his stomach < pause > It's through his chest with a steak knife!"

I would opine that if a male made such a "joke" about a female then the uproar would be deafening therefore a double standard as well as crass.

This was quickly followed by how the best way to get rid of Boris Johnson was to threw battery acid in his face!?

The act then followed the usual dreary modern female stand by of period jokes and why are all men bastards etc.

The modern male comedians are no better.

Give me a Don Rickles celebrity roast any day of the week.
