I WATCHED IT HAPPEN - part 4

BAAA!

Whoever first came up with that simile for Christ and his followers as being like the good shepherd and his sheep, really hit the nail on the head, as anyone familar with sheep will immediately understand.

Unfortunately sheep are prey to various predators from corvids that peck out the eyes of lambs (I used to watch out for crows when riding in the guards van of the Tallylyn Railway with a shotgun to scare them away) to wolves in mountainous regions abroad.

Sheep and especially lambs, seem to have a self destructive nature and can be relied upon to get lost, caught in brambles or just die of exposure given half a chance especially in the winter snows. They are remarkably dim witted animals and so resemble many 'born again' christian fundamentalists whose behaviour is absolutely opposite to their make believe saviour's example as they lie and persecute those their hypocritical leaders claim are 'crooked' etc.

What little trust I have in the potential of any political model I prefer to reserve for democracy, or even constitutional monarchy when the position is held by someone as conscientious as the late Queen Elizabeth 2 was in fulfilling her role as leader of her people. I think we were just lucky though and its too much to expect each successive monarch to be equally worthy, so perhaps democracy alone is our best hope.

Its in the nature of humans to always find some way to exploit any system to their advantage, hence the current success of capitalism enriching a few oligarchs to the detriment of the general populace.

I can always tell when we're riding for a fall, those who fail to learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat its mistakes.

Just compare the Golden Age in America to the current situation and spot the markers I use as my caveat. Expensive toys are the warning, incredibly over priced cars, yachts, private aircraft, all the signs of 'success' which will inevitably lead to a financial collapse for several possible reasons but shortages of resources and consequent warfare are the usual outcome.

If we are to have any hope of saving our democracy from the inevitable TRUMPets of doom, then we need to isolate those responsible for the corruption of our media outlets and their financial backers anxious to enslave the general populace to an Orwellian nightmare of some brave new world.

They can't wait to get their puppet onto centre stage, as anyone with half a brain must surely see, that once Trump is elected President (assuming he survives till November which I think unlikely) then the way is clear for Them to manipulate our government, military and judicial systems such as to ensure a dictatorship whose lifetime will probably be short and bloody as per the previous examples of Italy, Germany and Japan.

However whatever the outcome I don't fancy yours and my chances, do you?

Fortunately I'm almost at the end of my life so it won't really make that much difference to me but my children and grand children may well be in for some horrifying times unless they and we combine forces to overthrow the enemy within before it can fulfill its ambitions.
