Am I the only one who is becoming less and less able to research something on the internet?

Search engines seem to have become advert engines.

If I'm looking for information on, just as an example, a particular piece of real railroad equipment, all I get anymore are photos of some three-rail coarse toy painted something sort-of resembling the general thing I'm looking for, followed by listings for a thousand toy stores who are selling this particular three-rail coarse toy mixed with breathlessly enthusiastic reviews of the dam thing.

It is said that all man's knowledge is available on the internet. Sadly, man only seems to want to shop, for that information is so deeply covered over in commerce as to be dam near obliterated by it.

Anymore, a book is just so much easier.
