For Healey."
I know, it's a bit mind-numbing. I think the doc has a sharp eye out on "preventative" care. He sent me for a CT scan of the heart to determine if there were any calcified blockages...it came back 0%, like nothing, which I found hard to believe given my 60+ years eating mayonnaise sandwiches, lol. While my blood-pressure was borderline before losing a bunch of weight, it has fallen back to near normal now. Cholesterol measurements have always been in the normal range. I think he's just reacting to the standard "protocol" for treatment of Type II diabetes, i.e. everyone goes on Metformin, everyone goes on a statin, and everyone goes on a BP med. There's no history of diabetes in my family, but quite a bit of history of cardio and strokes. I think he's of the opinion that it's better to take the stuff than to be sorry later. I just don't want to be taking a half-dozen pills a day (probably a small number for many my age). I gotta get another round of bloodwork in ten days, ostensibly to measure the effect of the statin (atorvastatin). We'll see. If he says I need to start into BP meds while the BP remains in a good range, I plan to tell him politely to go pound sand.
