Nerve damage takes a long time to sort itself out, dude, so get used to taking it easy and catching up on the reading. You'll want to do nothing to aggravate it.

Years ago I had a decent-sized benign mass carved out of my side, involving a seven or eight inch incision through the torso wall. The surgeon warned me I'd have no feeling in that area likely for at least six months due to the severed nerves. His estimate proved a good one. I would imagine you're looking at a similar time-line, if not longer.
