It's been a couple days since you wrote this, and I rather feel it's time for a response, hopefully not stepping over bounds myself.

Some months back I wrote here that the ones to watch were not the fascists or the like, but the capitalists. You might remember how the parallel was drawn between the industrialists of the Gilded Age and the technocrats of today.

It's unfolding pretty predictably now that the election is over and the duped gave the country away; make no mistake, the country is gone. They had you afraid of the brown invader, the academic and cultural élites, some weird-arsed cabal of paedophiles, the "deep state", the Chinese, all wanting to take your rights.

You were afraid of the wrong elites. As I type this, they are filing in and out of Mar-a-lago and meeting with their master, or at least their peers.

Mike, you and Tam fear Trump and his MAGA crowd, but I still really believe Trump is merely a puppet, and the likes of Musk will be running the show if not owning it. Compared to the true power brokers, Trump is a flyweight.

I find it interesting that, now that the US is in the bag, Musk is courting another populist who currently is perhaps a bit of a joke but so was Trump, this one being Farage. Now that Musk (or is it a group including the likes of Zuckerberg and Bezos) has Washington, does this look like the very beginnings of the same strategy to get Whitehall? It's interesting to speculate as it unfolds.

I still believe the American electorate who gave the country away still don't realise they did it. I believe they did so for reasons honest to them, believing the bullshit and afraid of the fictitious threat to their quaint religions or cute little guns or whatever (BTW, waving a bible and an AR15 doesn't work well against an infantry company trained in small unit tactics, let alone a couple Apaches and a Loach. I think I can say this with some authority).

I easily could be wrong, but things still look the same to me as they did six months ago. To those who did it, I honestly hope you get what you think you voted for from who you elected. I say that sincerely.

Nothing that is unfolding, though, causes me to rethink the notion you were fearing the wrong élites, the wrong 2%, and, in doing so, you gave away the farm to the very élite you should have been fearing all along.

Time will tell.
