I don't think I mentioned it here so forgive me if I have.
Anyway, I had the six-months-after-surgery visit with the ortho-quack last week, and things spine-fusion have knitted together as well as can be expected.
The structure is sound, and the nerves and muscles are still adapting. I pretty much have a pass to do whatever my body will tolerate as long as I use some minimum of common sense, take breaks when it gets tired, and pay attention. Indeed, activity is now encouraged lest I allow it to stiffen by behaving like a crippled old man.
As one would expect, there is quite a bit of permanent inflexibility to be worked around, and the car workshop certainly is an environment chock-full of those situations. So it is that a hydraulic pit-bay lift has been added to the arsenal. After a pretty pleasant morning of assembly, charging and bleeding hydraulics, and a test-lift, we have this:
The building doesn't have the overhead clearance for a full lift, sadly, but this thing gets me in a far better position than trolley-jacks and stands for many operations.
Maybe I should write a book, "Old Sergeant's Workshop". GRIN!
