I'd love an old MoD Land'y Defender; chances of roping one in at this point are about as good as finding one of those standard railway fusee clocks I also admire greatly.
I was very lucky to have found an early version of the standard fusee clock that somehow found itself over here, probably as an office clock at a shipping company in Boston or New York. It was made by one Richard Jaggers in Manchester no later than the 1840s. It's a good solid example of the breed, as ubiquitous a commercial clock design as the Seth Thomas "Regulator" was here.
