Chrissie deco has taken over. The tree in the front room:
Another in the library ("The library." Posh!)
The view from out front:
New this year are the three light-ups on the porch, a uniquely American bit of plastic kitsch from the sixties called "blow-moulds". Two candlesticks, one either side of a Santa figure, they are made in a huge two-facet mould by inflating near-molten plastic inside, then coloured by a translucent die. The insides are hollow, a hole is machine-cut for a mains-powered lightbulb inserted. The result is delightfully obnoxious in a Wooly's sort of way. They are sought by collectors who know every mould and proper colour combination.
Of course, one can use today's LED bulbs in them, but that probably is frowned upon by the truly rabid as "un-authentic". I put flickering LED bulbs in the candlesticks which look even more ludicrous. They are as much fun as bubble-lights!
