If anything you hit the nail on the head by voicing her as you did. I sometimes wonder if they wonder what happened to their mother.

I took them in and hand-weaned them both. It was touch and go for a while but I have no regrets with risking their loss when so young. If I hadn't, they would have never survived.

But it ain't about me. They both have given back so much and have made my life all the richer over these now eleven years.

It's not at all a sad ending to that story. They were tough little things, survived, then thrived. Sure, the beginnings were worthy of a tear of great sympathy, but from then on the pair of them have been bonded to us (me especially, but I did wean them after all) and I believe very happy.

There is a lesson for us in those two.

Meanwhile, don't stop voicing them. It's a joy to read and you do it very very well.
