I finally was able to crack out one of the two-seaters, first time since the end of November!
With the exception of last winter when my spinal surgery caused me to be under orders not to even look at them, I have always been able to drive them through the winter. The only time I would have to wait was in those periods between a snow and the next decent rain that cleared the salt off the roads, then drive until the next snow.
Not this winter, the worst driving winter here in at least a decade. Bitter cold, snow, ice, never a period when the roads were cleaned of salt and the temps above the freezing mark from St. Andrews Day until today, actually.
Surprisingly for having sat for so long, the Spit fired off and is in surprisingly good tune. I'm going to see about the Midget next. They are lucky in that they live in a heated and air-conditioned workshop so they do tend to stability when they have to sit.
Lots of other signs of springtime out there. There's green grass in the ditches, the robins are back, and the migratory geese are on the move. There even was a couple vic's of snow-geese went overhead as I was headed out to the workshop, a very rare thing here as their usual migratory route is 'way west of here. They have a very different sound from the usual Canada geese, too. Lastly, the crocuses are blooming:
Nice to have a chance to open the windows and air the house out a bit...
