but we all know that these snapshots of history ARE part of our history and 'family album' as it were... and history is ongoing, even now. Will our grandchildren be able to look back on what is happening today with the same kind of perspective as we now have from what happened in our parents' or grandparents' generation?

Some of us would like to believe that racism and social injustice doesn't really exist anymore, but most of us know better. It may be on a different scale, or less out in the open, but it is still there. If it weren't, we wouldn't have who we have as President right now.
