It's spelled 'Köln' (I'd love to see the 'Kölner Dom,' the Cologne Cathedral). The German umlauted 'o' is an odd sound, anyway. It and umlauted 'u' are their two hardest sounds. I think 'Cologne' is a French name the Americans picked up. Germans never call it that.
