My uncle was scheduled to be on the beach on D-Day, but due to luck good or bad, his landing craft was sunk under him on D-Day. He was rescued, but eventually sent on to Europe with the 2nd Army.

He didn't talk much about the War. I don't know what he did, or what he felt about his entire unit sinking into the English Channel. I imagine that was pretty rough.

His generation dealt with a lot, and didn't talk or complain much.
