"Tomorrow is the anniversary of D Day. Ha ha ha! Guess that didn't work out so well for you did it?"

The Chancellor iummediately corrected him, saying Germany looked forward to the ridding of Hitler and the Nazi party as much as anybody. D Day was their liberation day too.

My dad fought in WWII too. He was stationed in Iceland, and fought on the mainland.



He never spoke about it. Never. One of his friends was wounded on Omaha Beach. He had a Nazi flag signed by all the surviving members of his company. Only once did he take it out from the closet to show us. He never spoke about the War.
