It seems so obvious to any normal person who and what dt is. He puts it on display all the time. I remember Reagan being called the Teflon president. Nothing ever stuck to him. But dt takes the cake by far. He uses Hitler tactics of divide and conquer, scapegoating the minorities and anyone who cannot or will not fight back. He stokes the flames of hatred and division just like Hitler did, and he sees that it works. Why? Because people want someone to hate, blame or look down upon, and he knows that. He is riding that wave as far as it will take him and cashing in hand over fist, just like Republicans normally do when they get into office and cut taxes and regulations for the wealthy. He just takes it much farther. But as long as his followers feel like they are "owning the libs" they just don't care about the lies, fraud and corruption, nor the consequences. In fact, many seem to revel in it... even if it hurts them as well, as long as it hurts those they like to hate, it's somehow worth it.

It makes me ashamed to be an American right now, and I'm afraid it will be very difficult to undo much of the damage, even if dt goes away sooner than later. I do still try to be an optimist, though it is difficult at a time like this.

I especially like the conversation between HCR and Buttigege on the bigger picture of how we got here and how we could come to a better place if only we can persist and work through the problems and issues through level headedness and not get trapped in the mud of diversions and partisan politics.
