I have recently informed my supervisor that I intend to retire at the end of December. It's a huge milestone for me, as I've worked almost continuously since I was 16 years old, with usually less than a week off for both vacation and time between jobs. Even after discharge from the military and graduating from college, I was always back at full-time work in less than a week. I have always had additional work outside my regular job as well.
I intend to do more volunteer and charity work in retirement. I will probably still do some regular IT work, as I have a friend with an IT business that utilizes me now for bigger projects. He has expressed interest in employing me for about 10 hours a week.
Time to turn the page.
