Of course, there is another entire year to go and things could significantly change. However, it is doubtful that the GOP will smarten up and do even a little better, but will do much worse.

I'm just hoping that they don't manage to demolish our entire Republic and replace it with a dictatorship. It is doubtful that they could succeed at that without the full military and a majority support in the government and in the populace to overthrow our representative democracy.

I can't believe that the military or the populace would be agreeable to that, regardless of how much they might like trump right now. For the first time in our modern history, the military leadership doesn't appear to prefer the GOP. That can only increase as trump and company get more brazen and do more harm to Americans, particularly those who supported them. November 2026 will be the test of whether traditionall red states have gotten the message clearly enough that the current government couldn't care less about them... or their votes.

F***in' trump inadvertently spelled it out in 2024 when he told supporters they wouldn't have to vote again in the future because "he'd have gotten it all straightened out". WE heard that loud and clearly, but his supporters heard what they wanted to hear instead of what he actually said. I believe they are finally catching on now.
